Last week we made the difficult decision to temporarily close both Galaxy Hut and Spacebar due to the pandemic. We have been following the news and guidelines closely to re-evaluate our ability to reopen to the public. We are the definition of a mom and pop shop. We are a married couple that own and operate both locations alongside our amazing staff led by our managers Christer George at Spacebar and Joe Baker at Galaxy Hut. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to ask how they can support our staff and businesses. We have three ways you can do that:
- We will be opening Spacebar for contactless curbside pickup for food, wine, and beer (including our draft beer to go!) this Thursday and Friday. We have created an online store for people to order and pay online. If you decide to order alcohol, please bring a valid ID (see our website for a link to Valid IDs) for us to check upon your arrival. We will check ID through the glass of your car window, or if you walk up, through the glass of our front door. We have a table set up outside where we will put your order once you arrive. Please wait for the person who puts your order down on the table to go back into the restaurant before you approach to pick up your bag. Out of an abundance of caution for everyone’s safety, we are not allowing the public to come inside the restaurant at this time. It is our hope to reopen Galaxy Hut for the same style of service as soon as possible, stay tuned for that information. UPDATE 3/28: after Thursday and Fridays’s service, we are pausing again to reconfigure our ordering and fulfillment issues for this new business model!
- We have set up a GoFundMe page for people to donate to our incredible staff. 100% of the donations to this site will be distributed equally among the staff at Galaxy Hut and Spacebar.
- If you would like to donate directly to the businesses, we have set up a GoFundMe page for that as well. Donations to this page will help us stay afloat during this turbulent time and allow us to open with as little disruption as possible as soon as we can.
